PCC Community Update: May 2026

Hello everyone, and welcome to your May round-up from the Pentyrch Community Council! It has been a busy and highly productive month, with councillors meeting on May 5th and May 18th to work on wonderful improvements, celebrations, and community initiatives across our villages.

Here are the positive highlights and updates on what’s happening in our beautiful area:

50 Years of Pentyrch Village Hall! πŸŽ‰

A massive congratulations to Pentyrch Village Hall, which is celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary! To help mark this incredible milestone, the Council has awarded a Β£350 grant to support the hall in hosting the fantastic Pendyrus Choir. Cllr Krip shared that the Village Hall team was incredibly grateful for the sponsorship, and we cannot wait for what promises to be a spectacular musical celebration.

Community Enhancements & Green Spaces 🌳

We are dedicated to keeping our local environment beautiful, accessible, and safe. Here are a few exciting projects currently underway:

Terrace Woodland Paths: We have officially accepted a quotation to install a brand-new 1.2m wide path in the Terrace Woodland. This will make enjoying our local woodland much easier and more accessible for walkers!

Pentyrch Shopping Precinct: We are delighted to support a community request from Christine James. The Council has agreed to purchase materials to help refresh and improve our local shopping precinct.

Little Free Library: After the success of the installation of a Little Free Library in Pentyrch Park, Councillor Rosser is assisting the Deputy Clerk to explore options for potential site in Gwaelod Y Garth next.

Creigiau Frog Pond: A lovely outcome of No Mow May- a Common Spotted Orchid - Dactylorhiza fuchsii- was noticed by our Maintenance Officer.

Celebrating Our Local Heroes πŸ†

Do you know a resident who goes above and beyond for our community? We want to hear from you! The Council will invite residents to nominate local heroes for an award at our upcoming Civic Reception. Keep an eye on our social pages so you can help give our local champions the recognition they deserve!

Good News from Our Schools & Council Health Checks πŸ‘

Welcome to the New Headteacher! Cllr Roberts shared the wonderful news that Creigiau Primary School has officially appointed a new Headteacher. We wish them the absolute best of luck as they step into this exciting role leading our local students!

A Glowing Financial Report: Our year-end internal audit report has come back with zero accounting issues identified! The auditor praised the Council for maintaining a robust set of financial records with a comprehensive audit trail. You can rest assured your community funds are being managed with the utmost care.
