The Community Council is seeking residents’ views on possible future uses of the land it owns between the Children’s Park and Woodland Crescent.

Over the years, various approaches have been taken to manage this area, including the planting of young trees and the removal of others affected by disease. At present, the land is being used informally, for example for cycling activities, and as a place where garden waste is occasionally deposited.

The Community Council would like to begin planning for an option that reflects the preferences of residents and is practical to maintain. One possible approach could be the introduction of simple pathways and seating, retaining a natural character while providing some structure and regular upkeep.

We believe there is an opportunity to enhance this central area of the village in a way that benefits the community, and we welcome your ideas and suggestions.

Please share your thoughts with us. Following the success of our first Councillor drop-in session, we would like to hold regular monthly sessions at the Creigiau Inn. Dates and times to follow.

How to make your suggestions known

  • Speak to Cllr Colin Belward in person

  • Write to PCC: Pentyrch Community Council, 1 Penuel Road, Pentyrch CF15 9LJ

Terrace Woodlands, Creigiau

Update: 20th May 2026

Dear Residents,

The Community Council is very grateful to those members of the community who submitted their views on the future of the Woodlands .

A wide variety of suggestions were made & it is the aim of the community council to meet as many aspirations as possible . It is clear that this will take time & the community council has committed funds to the first phase .

Work will begin in the next few weeks to clear vegetation , using Brush Cutters and Strimmer's. This will ensure the minimum disturbance to mammals and bird life, while allowing us to progress construction of a path and steps .

There will be noise in the area, and when the stone and stone dust is delivered, a lorry will need to reverse down the Terrace to unload . We will try to give notice of these deliveries to the surrounding houses in case any vehicles need to be moved. Tarmac is supplying all of the stone as a gesture of goodwill to the village.

We have taken advice from Biodiversity Wales and Coed Caerdydd, and will endeavour to include many of their suggestions .

After completion of this first phase the community council will again conduct conversations in the community, with the local school and with interested groups, to discuss planting of wild flowers and bulbs, a village Christmas tree, the placing of a Memory stone, and some benches.

The community council is proud to be able to work with the community in the creation of an area which will hopefully provide some peaceful moments in the centre of a busy village, utilising a plot of land that has been lying dormant for too long.

As the work progresses, please do not hesitate to contact us with any comments .

Yours Sincerely

Adrian Isaacs, Clerk to Pentyrch Community Council

Update: 9th March 2026

Following community consultation, PCC has developed a plan for essential access paths and steps. We view this as a ‘living’ project that will evolve with creative input from local groups, including the WI, C23, Garth Rotary, Allotments, and Creigiau School.

The vision includes seating, picnic tables, and bird/bat boxes (potentially with nest-cams), alongside native planting to provide vital wildlife cover. We are now securing quotes and invite your final feedback before moving forwards with the plan.
